Both flush the same way. The difference is whether the tank and bowl are one solid piece or two pieces bolted together, and that affects cleaning, repairs, weight and price.
| One-piece | Two-piece | |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning | Easier, no seam where tank meets bowl | A seam that collects grime |
| Price | Usually higher | Usually lower |
| Weight | Heavier in one awkward piece | Two lighter pieces, easier to carry |
| Repairs | Fewer gaskets to leak | Tank-to-bowl gasket can leak over time, but parts are easy to find |
| Look | Sleek, modern | Traditional |
